What is #GivingTuesday and WHY do we give?

The movement of #GivingTuesday marks an international day of giving which kicks off the charitable end of the year giving season. Cars 4 Cures has joined the movement this year, and we couldn’t be more excited to get involved. This is a movement that has continuously grown over the last few years and what better time for us to get onboard?

What is #GivingTuesday? #GivingTuesday was built on the means of doing something more tangible than just giving a heartfelt thanks. Giving Tuesday takes place this year on Tuesday November 28 following American Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Charities, companies, and individuals from all parts of the world are involved in this to join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes, and give back to the community. The amazing part about this campaign is that it truly has no boundaries. The global movement has been sustained almost entirely through earned and social media, which completely saturates the media landscape during the giving season each year. Here is a YouTube video that says it all.

Giving can be defined in many ways. However, reaching into your pocket isn’t the only way to give. Giving (donating) X amount of dollars to a certain cause can go a long way, however there is so much more to give. Giving can come in the means of volunteering at a homeless shelter down the street from your parents place, it can come in the means of love or happiness, giving can be gardening for a grandparent, and much much more.

Cars 4 Cures was created on the basis of giving back to the community. If you’re considering getting rid of your vehicle, how about considering donating it to the charity of your choice? Your old vehicle can serve a new purpose, with the help of Cars 4 Cures. We have nine partner charities that we work with throughout the year - Children's Wish Foundation, Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, Food 4 Kids, Pancreatic Cancer Canada, Distress Centre Halton, Healthy Minds Canada, 541 Eatery & Exchange, Boy’s & Girl's Clubs and Speaking of Dogs Rescue. These charities are unable to accept car donations without the help of Cars4cures. The best part is, YOU get to choose which charity your donation will impact! We’ll ensure that the process is easy and stress-free, and you will benefit those who need it most.

Pick the charity of your choice, we will come pick it up within 24-48 hours (scheduled in most areas at time of booking, and we will give you the maximum value tax receipt guaranteed at the time of your booking)! Service areas that you can donate your car include: Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oakville, Burlington, Barrie, Toronto, Winnipeg, London, Kitchener, Southern and Southwestern Ontario. Most importantly every time you donate your proceeds stay in Canada!

In what ways do Cars4cures give?
  • 1 donation will pay for one otherwise hungry child to be fed on weekends for the entire school year with Food 4 Kids
  • The monthly funding from car donations to Boys & Girls Club will pay for an afternoon snack for 150 children for a month or feed 25 children dinner each evening for two weeks
  • The funding from car donations will help grant a wish to a child with a life threatening illness through Children’s Wish Foundation
  • 1 car donation will help 541 Eatery & Exchange pay for 60 meals to the less advantaged
